Jai Gordon

Biography:

Jai Gordon was born and raised in Philadelphia Pennsylvania on March 1, 1982. She is the oldest of four siblings raised in Southwest Philadelphia. At an early age Jai loved to play “basketball”. In first grade her Principal at Penrose Elementary School located in the Eastwick section of the city pulled her mother to the side and whispered, “Your daughter is extremely talented in basketball”. From an early age, Jai played basketball day and night, in school, in leagues across the city wherever she could find a basketball court, Jai played and played so well she earned a full scholarship to play for Panola Junior College where she led the nation in “assists” in 2002-2003 which led her to be recruited to the Division I ranked Stephen F. Austin University where she received her Bachelor’s degree.

Jai didn’t just play basketball; she also enlisted in the United States Army simultaneously while playing basketball and served in the U.S. Army reserves for eight years. Jai was honorably discharged in 2015

After college Jai returned back to Philadelphia and was determined to become a Police Officer and joined the Philadelphia Police Force in 2007 where she recently celebrated her 11th year anniversary.

While serving her city as a Police Officer Jai decided to use her talent to help others become healthy. After helping a childhood friend lose over 90lbs in seven months Jai decided to start her own health and fitness business Gymratz Athletics where she motivates men, women and children to get active, through exercise, healthy eating and understanding how to eat to live and not live to eat. Gymratz Athletics is a woman owned business that not only serves as personal training, but also sells fitness apparel.

Jai is also an avid community servant, as she started “Gymratzathletics Annual Family Fit Day” in which each year she hosts a free, fun and peaceful event within the community. The purpose of this day is to educate and motivate community members to be active, be fit and prioritize their health.

Jai accomplished all of this before even reaching 40 years of age.
